State-Of-The-Art Orthodontic Office
Ricci Orthodontics is dedicated to providing our patients with the best care possible. That means using state-of-the-art technology. Technology in dentistry has come a long way in recent years. We have better tools, better imaging, and better treatments than we would have had just 20 or even 10 years ago.
Old school dentistry seems archaic by comparison. To remain up-to-date, Ricci Orthodontics uses the latest technology and products available. To help our patients feel better about choosing us for their orthodontic care, it’s important to us that they learn about and understand the technology and products we use.
Technology And Products We Use
Cold Laser Therapy
One of the most exciting and promising technologies in use today is cold laser therapy. Cold laser therapy is particularly useful in reducing pain and inflammation. For instance, cold laser therapy can reduce symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain and is applied directly through the cheek for about ten minutes over 5 to 12 treatment sessions.
Cold laser therapy also has post-surgery applications that can speed up recovery time and reduce pain and inflammation. It truly feels like something you would see a doctor character use in Star Trek. But now it’s a reality. Not only does cold laser therapy speed up healing, it can quell nerve pain and could one day eliminate the need for anesthesia in some cases.
TADS
Temporary Anchorage Devices, otherwise known as TADS for short, is a relatively new technology that has been around and improved upon since the 1980s. They are small dental implants that look like a screw. A spring attaches to the screwhead and the tooth to be moved. Made of titanium alloy for strength, TADS provide a strong anchor point around which teeth are moved without having to use a tooth as an anchor.
Self-Ligating Braces
Self-Ligating Braces are a game-changer when it comes to the need for braces treatment. These braces work basically the same as other types of braces by applying pressure on the teeth to gradually shift them into alignment. The difference is that the archwire clips into a special hinged door built into each bracket. This allows Dr. Ricci to access and tighten the wire more conveniently, which shortens appointment times for patients.
The built-in mechanism also eliminates the need for traditional elastic ties to hold the wire in place. It also makes your braces easier to clean and you may feel less discomfort.
Digital X-rays
Digital x-rays have been around since 1987, but they have greatly improved due to further advances. They offer a convenient and quick way to obtain images of your teeth, all without exposing you to as much radiation as traditional x-rays that could have adverse effects on your health.
Digital x-rays work by combining computer technology with electronic sensors and small bursts of radiation. This creates an immediate image on the screen that your orthodontist can examine right away instead of having to wait. In addition, digital x-rays are easier to store and are less expensive than traditional x-rays. They are also more comfortable for patients to endure, with less biting down and no need to wear protective gear, all while getting a sharper and clearer image of what’s going on with your teeth.
iTero Scanner
Orthodontists use the iTero scanner to make a perfect digital impression of your teeth, eliminating the traditional molds of teeth that were made by having patients bite down into a tray filled with plaster or putty. Once again, laser technology makes the patient experience more convenient. The radiation-free laser scans your teeth to map out an accurate treatment plan. This is especially useful for Invisalign® treatment, but can also be useful for patients who need dental implants, bridges, and crowns. This technology is truly revolutionary.
Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera is the size of a standard pen and can take images of the teeth and mouth that are difficult to reach. The camera not only takes pictures, but video as well, providing your orthodontist with a detailed look and patients with a more thorough examination. The real-time diagnoses the camera provides helps educate patients and gives more accurate documentation of your dental issues to your insurance provider.
Sprintray 95 3D Printer
You have likely heard of 3D printers before, but the Sprintray 95 3D Printer is specifically designed for dentists and orthodontists. This printer allows your orthodontist to create a 3D model or mold of your teeth right there in the office. The printer is used in conjunction with the iTero scanner for accuracy. It can also print out clear retainers.
Paperless Office
If convenience and protecting the environment are important to you, it may interest you to know that Ricci Orthodontics is a paperless office. That means we utilize the minimum amount of paper processes possible, relying mostly on digital instead. This not only creates financial savings for us that we can use to benefit our patients, it makes our carbon footprint smaller.
Comfortable Spa-Like Orthodontics Office
If you have ever been to a really good spa, you know that the space is designed to make people comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere and environment. Well, what works for spas also works for orthodontists. Our office is visually appealing and relaxing to put patients at ease during their visit.
GLO Science Professional Whitening System
One of the products we offer is the GLO Science Professional Whitening System, which combines gentle heat and light technology with sensitive-free hydrogen peroxide gel to provide patients the bright white smile they deserve. Teeth whitening has never been more efficient or more convenient.
TruDenta®
If you suffer from chronic headaches and migraines, the TruDenta® process may be able to help. The process involves using ultrasound, low-level photobiomodulation, cold laser or microcurrent, and manual muscle therapy to diagnose and treat your symptoms. It can even help patients with TMJ pain. This revolutionary process provides relief to patients. If you suffer from headaches and migraines, ask us about TruDenta® today.
